I support the immediate increase of the Federal Minimum Wage to $13 an hour with benefits and $15 an hour without benefits, which would bring the minimum wage level in line with federal poverty guidelines for a working adult with dependents. Currently, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 which nobody can live on that. Senator Merkley only supports a gradual increase to $10.10 an hour without benefits. Working people work too hard to get paid less than they deserve. The minimum wage has decreased in real value over the past 35 years. $15 an hour is an amount that should at least be raised to the Oregon minimum wage, leading the way so that all 50 states can have minimal living standards.
